Our JOB BRIDGE project is heavily affected by the corona crisis. Normally, all partners would currently carry out pilot projects to implement the JOB BRIDGE approach to validate the competences acquired in volunteering. Most of our planned pilot projects had to be suspended. And of course, we are not the only ones affected!

The planned learning projects – so beautifully planned in Matosinhos – have been massively affected by the current situation. Everything started well. The team of BUPNET and blinc came back full of enthusiasm and started to concretise things. First steps were successfully taken: A coaching guideline based on the SASSI concept was developed, mobility as a means of further training was explored and first plans were made – actually a team training abroad was planned for June, then postponed to September and then cancelled completely for this year … . The plans for Job Shadowing have also been put on hold. Unfortunately, travelling is just not safe these days. But we hope that next year we can catch up on our plans for European mobility!

We are pleased to announce that the Job Bridge training course for trainers and multipliers was successfully carried out on February 11th to 13th in the premises of the BUPNET in Göttingen, Germany. The course lasted 18 hours in total and included 22 participants from all partner countries. The course aimed to enable the participants to implement competence-oriented approaches with volunteers and validate competences acquired in the voluntary activities. Job Bridge project partners are launching two surveys to help them analyse the situation regarding validation and volunteering in the EU.
One is addressing former and current volunteers, the other addresses volunteer-based organisations (facilitators of volunteers).

On 12./13. of February, 2019, the Job Bridge partners met in Paris for the kick-off meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to get to know to each other and to plan in detail the first project activities.
The partners discussed in detail the approach of the stocktaking and needs analysis phase and brainstormed those competences that can be aquired in volunteering activities, on the one hand, and that are at the same time relevant for future employers. Currently the long list of competences is being revised and will be further consolidated by means of surveys and interviews in the partner countries.
Volunteering is an important means for (young) people to develop themselves, by building new relationships and gaining a whole set of life skills that can improve their employability. It serves to gather important experience in unknown fields, to develop social, personal and organisational competences.
The Job Bridge project – Job Bridge for Volunteers, is a two year project, which aims to offer the means for educational providers dealing with volunteers to assess their volunteers’ competences and to support their learning paths. Job Bridge will develop a fully-fledged user-centred approach for validating non-formal and informal learning processes in volunteering activities, including a well proven web-based documentation, both for learners and those supervising them, the “facilitators”.
On the 12-13 February 2019, the partnership will meet for the first time in Paris, France and set up the first steps for a comprehensive comparative research report.
