The PRACTICE project – Preventing Radicalism through Critical Thinking Competences aims to develop EU-wide continuing professional development (CPD) programme for teachers focussing on promotion of social, civic and intercultural competences and critical thinking of secondary school students.
PRACTICE addresses current challenges and needs of preventing radicalisation in school and of supporting opportunities for teachers’ continuing professional development (CPD) in this area, by developing, testing and disseminating an innovative approach, using participatory methods collaborative process, that involve 7 partner organisations and 35 schools at local, national and EU level.
On the 22-23 November 2018 the partnership meet for the first time in Palermo, Italy and set up the first steps for a comprehensive comparative research report.
We are pleased to announce that the follow-up project of the project SASSI was approved by the National Agency in UK.
SASSI-Working On will exploit and further develop the products develped in the previous project in terms of age-sensitive training to create innovative later career guidance methodologies. It intends to extend and enhance the access to age-sensitive careers advice, skills updating and work experience opportunities for older workers, and develop innovative approaches to guidance for older workers and job seekers.
The approach on promoting and validating the competences of C-VET providers, trainers, HR professionals and line managers in providing age-sensitive approaches to career management/advice initiated in SASSI will be further customised and applied.
Jobshadowing in London – Schülerförderung mal anders
Im Rahmen unseres KA1 Projekte INTENT hatte ich die Möglichkeit ein 2,5 wöchiges Jobshadowing bei einer spannenden gemeinnützigen Organisation in London. Jobshadowing bedeutet, dass ich den Kollegen dort über die Schulter geschaut habe und mich von deren Projekten und ihrer Arbeit inspirieren lassen durfte. Meine Gastgeber waren 15billion ebp – eine Organisation im Osten Londons, die Schulen im Stadtteil Borough of Newham dabei unterstützt, SchüleInnen auf den Übergang in die Berufswelt vorzubereiten. Dies ist im Borough of Newham von besonderer Bedeutung, da es einer der einzigen beiden Stadteile von London ist, in denen ethnische Minderheiten die Bevölkerungsmehrheit stellen. Continue reading
Für meine Arbeit in den EU-Projekten wollte ich unbedingt meine Englischkenntnisse aufbessern, und was liegt näher, als dies in England zu tun? Da kam mir die Möglichkeit gerade Recht, im Rahmen von Projekt INTENT ein dreiwöchiges Job Shadowing bei unserer Partnerorganisation Community Action Dacorum (CAD) in Hemel Hempstead zu machen.
One of our staff members, S., 52-years old, female, went for 3,5 weeks to the Marseille-based Eurocircle Association that is an organisation that has been working in the field of youth international mobility, non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, social and professional inclusion, citizenship and diversity for more than 25 years and is thus an expert in dealing with diverse groups of learners. With its experience with European and international programmes and activities there was a lot to learn from them in terms of relevant approaches on how to involve these target groups in various informal and non-formal learning activities.

During the final conference of the SASSI project, held on 18 May and hosted by Drenthe College in Meppel, two organizations have been awarded the SASSI award. These are: Leer Werk Centrum from the Netherlands and Vzdelávací inštitút COOP from Slovakia. Both showed their strong commitment in applying workforce development initiatives for older workers.

BUPNET was successful in applying for funds for their continous professional develpoment of their staff. The KA1 project entitled INTENT – Intercultural competences and development for new target groups is funded within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ education programme and offers our employees and teaching staff the opportunity to gain new impulses and ideas for improving their own practice and to extend their practical competences in during teaching or learning stays in other European countries. In the next months our staff members will go abroad and either be involved in job shadowing activites or in training courses. The team is very much looking forward to this experience!
The SASSI consortium offers a Training of Trainers (ToT) activity for VET/Adult education providers. The course aims at improving the technical and didactical expertise of the participating trainers in order to enable them to work with groups of mature adults.
The course is divided in three main phases:
- Preliminary phase: 12.09.-23.09.2016 in e-learning
- Face-to-face: 26.09.-30.09.2016 in Matosinhos (near Porto), Portugal
