Building the GATE Digital Library

From GreenComp competence to practical learning resource

A framework can provide orientation. But educators also need practical resources to bring it to life.

This is why the GATE partnership is currently building a multilingual Digital Library of sustainability resources linked to the 12 GreenComp competences.

Partners are identifying articles, videos, games, interactive tools, teaching materials and other resources in their national languages that adult educators can use to develop activities, case studies and learning situations.

But we are not simply collecting links.

Each resource is examined in relation to GreenComp: Which competence does it support? Which aspects of the competence does it address? What sustainability topic does it cover? And, most importantly, how could an educator use it with learners?

A resource about greenwashing, for example, can help develop critical thinking. A sustainability self-experiment can encourage exploratory thinking. A simulation involving different interests can help learners explore collective action or problem framing.

The result will be a practical resource pool that helps educators move from:

“I understand the competence” to “I have an idea how I could work with it.”
