Over the past months, we talked with more than 80 citizens across Europe as part of the Understanding EU project. Our goal? To understand how people experience EU legislation and what they need to make it more accessible.
Here are some of the most striking insights:
- EU law feels distant and complex
- Legal jargon is a barrier for many
- People want real-life examples, not just regulations
- Few know who makes the rules or how to follow changes
Despite this, citizens are keen to understand their rights and engage more deeply in democratic life. But only if information is clear, relevant, and easy to access.
➡️ In our next post, we’ll share what citizens want to see change—and what tools could really help.
