The European Erasmus+ project UPSPACE has now moved into its pilot phase, bringing newly developed learning modules directly into classrooms across partner countries. Together with students, these materials are being tested in real-life school settings, marking an important step toward strengthening Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in everyday teaching.
The first module focuses on climate change and the carbon footprint, with a special emphasis on the impact of our diet. Students explore how different food choices affect the environment and are encouraged to reflect on their own consumption habits.
Through interactive methods and practical examples, complex topics become easier to understand while helping students develop the skills needed to make more sustainable choices. At the same time, the pilot phase provides valuable feedback to further refine the materials for use in an international context.
With this testing phase underway, UPSPACE takes a significant step toward making sustainability education more practical, engaging, and effective across Europe.
