New project on media literacy for older people

We are happy to announce that we are now able to combine our work on fake news and age-appropriate learning in a new project. The project SAFE – Seniors Against Fake News – aims to improve the ability of seniors (65+) to recognise fake news online by helping them to develop their media literacy and critical thinking skills. By creating innovative educational materials, the project aims to promote digital participation and active citizenship. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to an improved quality of life, enabling seniors to lead more fulfilling, informed, safe, inclusive and independent lives.

To this end, adult educators will be equipped with professional skills and action-oriented methods to develop older people’s ability to recognise intentional misinformation on the internet and social media. The project will apply age-sensitive didactic and methodological principles in digital literacy education to promote and facilitate the participation of older learners in lifelong learning.

The project website will be available soon.
