Celebrating the Success of the SAFE Project: Final Partner Meeting and Conference in Ptuj, Slovenia

We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the SAFE (Seniors Against Fake news Empowerment) project with our final partner meeting and conference in May 2024 in the charming city of Ptuj, Slovenia. This event marked a significant milestone in our journey to improve the media literacy and critical thinking skills of seniors (65+) to ensure they can confidently navigate the digital world.

Final Partner Meeting in Ptuj

Our final partner meeting in Ptuj was a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Representatives from our partner organisations came together to reflect on the project’s achievements, discuss the results of our pilot activities and plan for the future. This collaborative spirit has been the backbone of our success and it was inspiring to see the commitment to continue our mission.

Final Conference: A celebration of success

The final conference was a lively celebration of the project’s achievements, attended by stakeholders in the field of education and training for older people. It was an honour to present the results of our pilot activities and to demonstrate the impact of our efforts:

  • Workshops for Seniors: Over 60 seniors participated in our workshops, engaging in practical exercises to identify fake news and develop their critical thinking skills.
  • Train the Trainers Workshops: Similarly, our Train the Trainers workshops were enthusiastically attended by over 60 educators, equipping them with the tools and methods to continue supporting senior learners.

The interest in our project was overwhelming, highlighting the importance and relevance of our work. Participants expressed a strong interest in further activities, demonstrating the continued need for such initiatives.

Looking forward

The success of the SAFE project has laid a solid foundation for future endeavours. Our project partners are eager to continue this fruitful collaboration and explore new ways to improve digital literacy among seniors. The positive feedback and high level of engagement from both seniors and educators underlines the significant impact of our efforts.

The final meeting and conference in Ptuj, Slovenia, not only celebrated the achievements of the SAFE project, but also reaffirmed our commitment to empowering seniors in the digital age. We look forward to building on this success and continuing our mission to foster a more informed and resilient senior community.
