Launching E-SHIFT: Supporting Workers in the Digital Transition

The E-SHIFT project (Transition and Skill Development for E-Commerce and Digital Entrepreneurship) officially started on 1 September 2025, bringing together partners from across Europe to address one of the most pressing challenges facing today’s workforce: the impact of digitalisation, automation, and artificial intelligence on employment.

Across Europe, manufacturing and assembly-line occupations are undergoing significant transformation. While digital technologies create new opportunities, they also require workers to continuously adapt and develop new competences. E-SHIFT aims to support this transition by helping workers strengthen their digital and entrepreneurial skills and explore new opportunities in the digital economy.

During the first phase of the project, partners focused on understanding the current landscape of digital transformation, e-commerce, and workforce transition. Through research, stakeholder engagement, and cooperation across countries, the consortium laid the foundation for future learning and training activities.

Over the coming months, E-SHIFT will develop innovative tools and learning pathways that support workers, trainers, and employers in navigating digital change. These include a Skills Assessment Matrix, adaptive microlearning opportunities, and practical training resources designed to meet real labour market needs.

We look forward to sharing our progress and working together to build a more resilient and future-ready workforce.
