Environmental Action in Practice – Multiplier Event at the Kartoffelfest in Reinhausen

As part of this year’s Kartoffelfest, hosted by the Waldpädagogisches Zentrum (RUZ) Reinhausen, our team had the opportunity to present the outcomes of the GEA project to a wider audience. The Kartoffelfest is a well-known local celebration dedicated to environmental education and sustainability, making it an ideal platform to connect with the community and highlight our project’s themes.

At our stand, visitors could explore the project through posters and leaflets while taking part in engaging, hands-on activities. Seed ball-making proved especially popular with children and families, while a live demonstration of biochar production with a small stove sparked curiosity and discussion among adults. These practical activities not only drew attention but also offered concrete examples of how sustainability can be put into practice in everyday life.

Throughout the day, we facilitated short thematic inputs and encouraged informal exchanges with festival visitors. This created a lively space for sharing ideas, raising awareness, and fostering conversations about environmental action and community-based learning.

The welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere of the Kartoffelfest perfectly reflected the spirit of the GEA project – promoting environmental engagement through active participation and lifelong learning. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this local tradition and to inspire citizens of all ages to take meaningful steps towards sustainability.
